Liposuction is sought by women and men who want to improve their body shape by removing extra fat deposited in certain areas such as the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees and chin.
Genetically, everyone of us have fat cells accumulated in certain areas of the body. The number of these cells can be reduced by liposuction resulting in a better contouring of the body. As fat does not regenerate, once this surgery has taken place any extra fat that you may gain afterwards may be reduced up to the original weight after the surgery. Your weight will be the same as after the Liposuction.

The Procedure:
Through a tiny incision, a narrow tube or cannula is inserted and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula is pushed then pulled through the fat layer, breaking up the fat cells and suctioning them out. The suction action is provided by a vacuum pump or a large syringe, depending on the surgeon's preference.
Obesity, excess loose skin or intra-abdominal fat cannot be reduced by Liposuction
Liposuction can be performed under different types of anaesthesia. You should be advised by your doctor what would be the best option. In the case of a small amount of fat and a limited number of body sites are involved, liposuction can be performed under local anesthetics, which numbs only the affected areas. Local anaesthesia is usually used along with intravenous sedation to keep you more relaxed during the procedure. Regional anaesthesia can be a good choice for more extensive procedures. One type of regional anesthesia is the epidural block, the same type of anesthesia commonly used in childbirth.
Liposuction operation can take several hours depending on the size of the area, the amount of fat being removed and the technique used for the application of anesthesia.
